Without actually going inside your home and seeing all the upgrades and improvements you have made over the years, all Zillow can do to arrive at its "zestimate" is compare your home to others that have sold in your area. 

A REALTOR® on the other hand, can compare 'apples to apples' by looking at similar homes, with similar improvements, square footage and age, that have sold in the last 6 months and hone in on your home's value in the current market far more accurately.

The biggest reason given by home sellers for attempting to sell their home on their own is to avoid paying an agent's commission. However, statistics have historically pointed out the fact that when a homeowner lists with an agent, they can expect to net more money.....even afterpaying a commission! This infographic, provided by the National Association of REALTORS®, shows the disparity in sold prices between sellers who list, sellers who don't and sellers who eventually do.

The bottom line is...

This winter we saw a most brutal winter that caused suffering, accidents and loss of life to a good part of our country. Jokes about global warming and climate change bring no comfort to the folks who saw their fuel bills sky rocket, watched as the snow kept falling and questioned where they would put it all.
